Gary Valenciano thanks son Paolo for support during 'Pure Energy: One More Time' concert
Gary Valenciano expressed his appreciation for his son Paolo and his support as he concluded his Pure Energy: One More Time concert even with health issues.
On his Instagram account, the veteran singer reposted a video that showed him and his eldest son walking backstage arm-in-arm after Gary finished his two-day concert. The first one was cut short due to him having ingested something that caused incessant vomiting and then dehydration.
"I love you Paolo Valenciano. We did it!!!" Gary captioned the video, which he reposted from Paolo's wife Samantha's IG page.
"No words for this man who stood by me when all seemed hopeless. The director of Pure Energy... One More Time... my son Paolo Valenciano. I love you so, so, so much son," he added in a separate post.
Paolo served as the head of creatives and stage direction for his concert. He recently posted a picture of Gary as he was performing onstage with a Bible verse displayed behind him that read, "For this I toil, struggling with all His energy that He powerfully works within me."
"My hero," Paolo wrote in the caption.
Gary kicked off his two-night show on Friday, Dec. 20 at the Araneta Coliseum. He showed up onstage after some delays and shared that he was feeling under the weather in his opening speech. After singing a few of his hits, Gary said he wasn’t sure if he can push through with the show.
In a Facebook post, his wife Angeli later explained that the music artist "ingested something and vomited so many times in the last two hours." Despite how he was feeling, Gary insisted to push through with the concert while doctors were on standby backstage.
In another update, Angeli assured the public his vitals have become all normal and he has been getting some rest, noting that he is "just weak from all the throwing up."
Gary pushed through with the second night of his show on Dec. 22 as scheduled.
Pure Energy: One More Time is a follow-up concert to Gary’s Pure: Energy: One Last Time show in April.
Over the years, he has had several health scares. He previously suffered and survived tuberculosis and hepatitis. He also underwent open heart surgery in 2018 and battled kidney cancer.
