Heart Evangelista says she and other Senate Spouses Foundation members don't get salary for their roles
Heart Evangelista and other members of the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc. (SSFI) don't get any salary for their roles.
On TikTok, Heart, SSFI president, shared a screenshot of a user's comment in her Instagram post about the role.
"[A]nd the spouses do not get any salary from the foundation. This is really a 'for the love of' job," the comment read.
Heart also added a message above and below the comment's screenshot: "FYI Po (red heart)" and "This job is from the heart (red heart)."
According to the Senate of the Philippines website, the SSFI is involved in socio-civic activities and other humanitarian projects targeting orphaned, abused and abandoned children, elderly members of the country and other marginalized members of society, including mentally challenged individuals, victims of calamities, war, and disaster-stricken communities, among others.
It was founded in 1987 by the spouses of senators in their private capacities, Heart also noted in a separate post.
Heart took the role after her husband Chiz was appointed as the new Senate President. She replaced Audrey Tan Zubiri, the outgoing president of the group and Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri's spouse.
During their oath-taking on June 5, Heart said she's ready "to honor the challenge of working together to find ways to uplift our people and our communities."
Joining Evangelista in her leadership role are Sen. Koko Pimentel's wife Kathryna Yu-Pimentel as vice president; Raffy Tulfo's daughter Maricel Tulfo as secretary, Grace Poe's husband Neil Llamanzares as assistant secretary, Sen. Bong Revilla's wife Lani Revilla as treasurer; Sen. Mark Villar's wife Emmeline Villar as legal counsel; and Sen. Robin Padilla's wife Mariel Padilla and Sen.
