'Words matter': Selena Gomez speaks about kindness following Hailey Bieber’s recent interview
Selena Gomez spoke about the value of kindness and the power of words in her TikTok Live on Thursday, Sept. 29.
Just days after Hailey Bieber addressed claims that she stole Justin Bieber from the singer and receiving hate from it, Gomez spoke up saying it is “ironic” that some people are supporting her Rare Beauty line and Rare Impact Fund, but do not live the value and advocacy it promotes.
Without addressing Bieber's interview explicitly, Selena said: "I think some of the things that I don’t even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting. And it's not fair because no one ever should be spoken to in the manner that I've seen."
“It’s incredibly ironic that I would release something that’s all about kind words ’cause that’s exactly what I want,” she added.
The Rare Beauty founder, who is an advocate for mental health awareness, also stressed: “If you support Rare, I cannot thank you enough but know that you are also representing what it means, and that is words matter. Truly matter.”

This was after Hailey's interview for “Call Her Daddy” podcast went viral. During the interview, Bieber denied the rumors that she was the reason for her husband Justin Bieber and Gomez’s breakup.
“I had been involved with him since I was 18,” she said. “The timeline also that sometimes is in question of us getting together then getting engaged and him having been spending time with his ex before that, this is so crazy."
"They were not in a relationship at that time, but there’s a very long history there, and it’s not my relationship. It has nothing to do with me, so I respect that a lot, but I know that it closed a chapter, and I think it was the best thing that could’ve happened for him to move on and be engaged and get married and move on with his life in that way," Hailey added.
Hailey said that she and Selena have talked after marrying Justin in 2018.
"That's why I'm like, it's all respect. It's all love," Hailey said. "That's also why I feel like if everybody on our side knows what happened and we're good and we could walk away from it with clarity and respect, then, like, that's fine."
Hailey and Justin tied the knot in July 2018, just after a few months of dating.
Meanwhile, Selena and Justin had been together in an on-and-off relationship for over 10 years, which ended in 2018.
