Millie Bobby Brown reveals fiancé Jake Bongiovi proposed to her underwater

Millie Bobby Brown was with the fishes when she was asked by her fiancé Jake Bongiovi to be his wife.

In her guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 20-year-old actress revealed that they were in the middle of an underwater excursion when Jake, son of rocker Jon Bon Jovi, popped the question to her.

"Basically, Jake and I bonded over diving. We love diving, we got our driving licenses together," Millie said.

She recounted that while they were on vacation, Jake told her to get up at eight in the morning as they were going for a dive, much to her confusion.

"I was like, '8 a.m., dive?' And he’s telling me, 'We’re going to the same spot we usually go to,' I’m like, 'It’s boring, let’s go somewhere new.' He’s like, 'No, we have to go to this spot,'" Millie said.

Once they were at the diving spot, it wasn't until they were several meters underwater that Jake began his proposal gimmick.

"He gives me like a shell and I like, turn it over and it’s a ring," Millie recounted.

"I think it was underwhelming, but we freaked out," she continued, sharing that she had to do a thumbs-up signal to go to the surface as they had some trouble communicating underwater.

But the experience doesn't end there as the Stranger Things star disclosed that she almost lost the ring.

"He puts the ring on my hand and as I go to show him the ring falls off my finger, plummets like, so fast, it was like a cinematic movie," she said.

"Jake threw himself, like so deep, like the diver was like, 'You can’t do that, like your ears ... literally your brain will explode.' He does a cinematic grab, opens and he saved the ring," she went on.

Because of this act, Millie regarded it as a "reflection of who he is."

"I feel like we’re always going to have each other's back and if anyone drops the ball, we got it," she highlighted.

Once everything was settled, Jake properly asked her to marry him, to which Millie said yes. He then explained that he initially wanted to propose using the ring that belonged to Millie's mother, but had to buy another one after she refused in fear of him dropping the ring.

When they were back at the boat, Jake finally presented Millie with her mother's ring that she is now wearing on her finger.

"It was very magical and his parents were there and we just looked so disheveled coming out from a dive. We were like, 'We're engaged, but also, we have to tell you this crazy story that just happened,'" Millie ended.

The actress first announced that she was engaged on her Instagram account in April last year, wherein she posted a black-and-white picture of her and Jake in an elated hug. Eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed a diamond ring on her ring finger.

The pair made their relationship official back in November 2021 after Millie posted a sweet photo of Jake kissing her on the cheek during a ride on the London Eye ferris wheel.

Prior to this, romance rumors between them had already been circulating after they were seen walking hand-in-hand in New York City.
