'Boys Over Flowers' star Koo Hye Sun to graduate summa cum laude at 39
Koo Hye Sun, who starred in the hit television series Boys Over Flowers, is graduating from college—and summa cum laude at that—at 39 years old.
On Instagram, the South Korean actress shared photos of her graduation portrait, an announcement from her university, and her grades.
"Hello everyone. It's been a while. Finally, after a long journey, I am going to graduate on [the] 23rd," she wrote in the caption, in an English translation from the social media platform.
"I’m writing this with a happy heart that I was able to graduate with high honors (Summa Cum Laude)," she continued.
She thanked the Sungkyunkwan University alumni and professors, saying she won’t forget them.
According to a report by AsiaOne, her fans claimed in December 2023 that somebody was impersonating her on Everytime, a social media platform for South Korean university students.
But she later confirmed that it was actually her, jokingly referring to herself as an "aunt."
"I will be graduating after the final exams next week," she’s quoted as saying. "While taking classes with many fellow students and thinking about career paths and employment together, there was something I always wanted to say to my classmates who thought it was too late."
Koo Hye Sun famously portrayed Geum Jan Di in Korean series Boys Over Flowers, which was based on a Japanese manga series. Its Taiwanese adaptation Meteor Garden became a worldwide sensation.
She last starred in Blood in 2015 and You Are Too Much in 2017.
