Maxene Magalona says asking about getting pregnant is 'triggering,' 'awkward,' 'invasive,' and 'a bit rude'

Entering a deeper sense of relationship through marriage entails motherhood, but for Maxene Magalona, it is an old stereotype people should start breaking the cycle of.

The actress and singer shared on Instagram her sentiments and clarified some personal questions people usually ask her.

"Ms. Maxene, bakit hindi pa po kayo mag-baby?" (“Ms. Maxene, why don’t you have a baby yet?”), she quoted.

According to the post, random strangers would often ask her the same question in small talk. While she understands that curiosity is normal to humans, the actress admits that she finds the topic uncomfortable to talk about.

"First of all, let me clarify that getting asked this question can be very triggering for some. It is awkward, invasive and can be a bit rude. Some women (and men) biologically can’t have children and some don’t even want to have them in the first place," she said.

Magalona advices that, instead, people should ask women like her about their current state is better to break and stop the cycle.

"So I encourage those of you who are used to asking this question to try to break the cycle and stop it, if you can. We should all be asking each other, “How are you?” instead of these personal questions."

The singer confirmed that she is perfectly okay with her current life and simply chooses to follow whatever God's plan awaits her. For her, speaking about it is a great opportunity to encourage everyone, especially those who don’t have children yet, to carefully consolidate themselves first of their reason for having a baby.

"Consciously ask yourselves if you truly want to have kids or if you’re just following what everyone else in society is doing? Are you just bored? I highly recommend looking within yourself first, check to see if you’ve done enough inner work and healing for you to be able to have kids and get real with yourself about your intentions," she wrote.

She asks her followers to research on conscious coupling and parenting before bearing a child could save anyone from unnecessary heartaches.

"If you want to have kids but refuse to heal your childhood wounds, believe me when I say that you will end up unconsciously passing these on to your children. If you don’t want to have kids but still do it anyway because of pressures of society, you will end up resenting yourself and your children as well.

"So please research on 'conscious coupling' before you get into relationships and marriages and 'conscious parenting' before having children to save yourselves from unnecessary heartaches," Magalona said.

In January 2022, netizens speculated that Magalona has separated from her husband Rob Mananquil after the former unfollowed the latter and embarked on a solo trip.

She later revealed in a post last June that she is healing from her childhood traumas, which had an effect on her adult life. In the post, she thanked Mananquil for being a "conscious partner" and for accepting her for who she is.

"Thank you for being my conscious partner. Without you, I wouldn't have had the courage to continue. I am eternally grateful for your precious energy that brings so much magic into my life."
