Nadine Lustre on finding creative inspiration: 'I am lucky I am inspired and living in Siargao'
Creativity does not always come easy. Sometimes, to achieve it, you must have to go through a process that even multi-hyphenates like Nadine Lustre do.
During the Oppo Inspiration: Ahead event in Taguig City on March 18, Nadine talked about the importance of taking a breather and seeking inspiration from nature.
"I make sure that I go to places on weekends. I go to Rizal, I go to Tagaytay," she said, adding that listening to music and watching movies during rest day also help a lot.
The 29-year-old also highlighted her newfound life in Siargao, where she's been staying since 2021.
"It is a break that I found, I guess... it happened," she said.
Nadine previously shared that the island paradise helped keeping her mental health in check, noting the life of simplicity there.
"I feel like there's a lot of weight that's been lifted," she said. "It just feels like life in Siargao is so simple... like no fuss... It's really [a] nice community."
After a much-needed recharge from traveling and staying outside the metro, Nadine said she's able to become more productive with her engagements in the city.
She also reassured fans who may be feeling the blues, especially at work, that it's okay to lose your mojo sometimes.
"It is normal," she said," because we do many things... You’ll find your creativity decrease," noting that she also tends to get disorganized and lack inspiration at times.
A strong support system is also necessary for the content creator, who thanked her industry colleagues and the staff working with her.
Nadine encouraged the public to try something new in their lives and not become afraid of taking risks.
"To get out of your comfort zone, you should try something new. Even if it is not the way you want it," Nadine said, "okay lang because next time, you'll know what you should do."
Still, she reminded them to trust the process and not rush things.
"Find the chance to go to a beautiful journey," Lustre said. "Once you find it, all the challenges you have before, you’ll be stronger."
Nadine's last major project as an actress was the award-winning techno-horror Deleter, where she portrayed an online content moderator who witnessed the suicide of one of her workmates. She's set to star in another horror movie Nokturno, which tells the story of a Filipino family haunted by “a primal and supernatural curse” involving the “daughter who left them to live overseas.”
As a singer, Nadine released her album Wildest Dreams in 2020 under Careless, founded by her former partner James Reid, who she also collaborated with in pop songs like Bahala Na for movie Talk Back and You're Dead, as well as No Erase for Diary ng Panget: The Movie and Hanap-Hanap for Para sa Hopeless Romantic. She's now in a relationship with businessman Christophe Bariou.
On the business side, Nadine recently announced her online shops, the fashion-oriented nadinelustre.store and plant-focused betty-blooms.com, are already available on app- and web-based Shopboxo. She also launched her makeup line Lustrous in 2018.
