Britney Spears, Sam Asghari settle divorce

Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have finalized their divorce.

The Associated Press reported that the two are now officially single after reaching a divorce settlement on Friday, May 3. It was finalized by a Los Angeles County judge.

According to the news outlet, the former pair "filed court papers Thursday and Friday saying they had reached an agreement on dividing their assets." Not much has been made public about it, though AP reported that neither of them will get spousal support in the future. "Any future disputes would need to be settled in private arbitration," it said.

Britney and Sam started their romance in 2016 after meeting during the production of her music video for Slumber Party. They announced their engagement in 2021 and got married the following year in Los Angeles, California. 

They fueled breakup rumors in early 2023 after being spotted without their wedding bands in different cities. At the time, Sam’s representative shut down the split speculations and noted there were no issues between the two.

It was confirmed that Britney and Sam called in quits in July after being together for six years. The latter filed for divorce in August, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their breakup.

"After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together," Sam wrote in an Instagram post, saying that they "will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other."

"I wish her the best always," he added.

Britney was previously married to Jason Allen Alexander in 2004 and Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. She shares two sons named Sean and Jayden with the latter. She has no kids with Sam.
