Sarah Geronimo on speaking terms again with Mommy Divine: 'Thank you, Lord'
Pop singer Sarah Geronimo is now on speaking terms again with her mother Divine Geronimo after their reported falling out when she got married to Matteo Guidicelli.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Sarah said Mommy Divine congratulated her for her recent achievements.
"Yes! Thank you, Lord,” said Sarah when asked if they are on speaking terms. "I love you, Ma!"
Sarah was named the Woman of the Year by Billboard Philippines last March 22. She was also bestowed the Global Force Award at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music event in Los Angeles last March 7.
"She's killing it, she's really successful but she never ever wants the credit solely on herself,” Sarah said of herself in third person. “She always credits the people that build her art together with her.”
In receiving the Global Force Award, Sarah gave a shout-out to Mommy Divine.
"Totoo naman mga mommies po natin ang heroes natin. Our parents ang heroes natin," she said.
Sarah and Matteo got married in an intimate ceremony in February 2020.
But the marriage was supposedly a secret, causing a rift between Sarah and her parents, who then became conspicuously absent in her concerts.
In a now-deleted post in October 2022, she penned an apology letter to her parents for supposedly causing them pain.
Sarah rose to fame in 2003 after winning the singing competition Star for a Night. She has since become a popular singer, as well as an actress.
