January 2011: Son Yejin makes a cameo in Secret Garden
Perhaps, one of the best parts in the 2010-2011 K-drama Secret Garden is Yejin’s unexpectedly adorable cameo in the final episode. The fantasy romance, starring Hyun Bin and Ha Jiwon, featured the actress playing a calm and collected version of herself as she meets up with a casting director (Lee Philip).
Even if Yejin and Hyun Bin didn’t share the screen at that time, it’s a sign of how the K-drama gods are working their magic.
July 2014: Hyun Bin and Yejin win the Producer’s Choice Awards
Hyun Bin and Son Yejin attend the 2014 Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival where they both bag the prestigious Producer’s Choice Awards. What makes it more kilig was that they’re actually seated next to each other during the event.
May 2017: Hyun Bin and Son Yejin are confirmed to star in The Negotiation
In May 2017, the Hallyu stars were confirmed to appear in the 2018 crime thriller film The Negotiation. The film tells the story of ace negotiator Ha Chaeyoon (Son Yejin) who faces off against hostage-taker Min Taegu (Hyun Bin).
In an August 2018 Soompi report, Yejin revealed during the film’s press conference that Hyun Bin “positively reviewing the script” was a “deciding factor in my decision” to accept the role of Chaeyoon.
Sept. 19, 2018: The Negotiation was released in theaters
The Negotiation premiered in theaters in September 2018 to a good reception in South Korea. In a review by the Los Angeles Times, Hyun Bin and Yejin’s acting abilities were praised despite its “sluggish plot.”
Fun fact: Filipino actor Christian Lagahit from Squid Game also appeared in the film as a kidnapper.
Sept. 22, 2018: Hyun Bin and Yejin’s first public selfie
Yejin and Hyun Bin made fans go “aww” after the actress posted an adorable two-shot on her official Instagram page. Whether sparks flew between the pair or not, the photo is proof they look good together.
Sept. 25, 2018: Hyun Bin and Yejin celebrate the film’s success
Hyun Bin and Yejin thanked their fans for supporting The Negotiation after it surpassed one million moviegoers at the box office. In an Instagram post by entertainment agency CJ E&M, the actors were spotted holding a plate of rice cakes in the shape of 100.
The wholesome post also coincided with South Korea’s chuseok (Thanksgiving) holiday at that time.
The couple also made fans swoon after Yejin posted a short video with Hyun Bin as they expressed their love to their fans.
January 2019: Hyun Bin and Yejin in Los Angeles (or nah?)
Dating rumors between Hyun Bin and Yejin started swirling when a post in an online community reportedly claimed that they were traveling together in Los Angeles, California.
Hyun Bin’s agency VAST Entertainment quickly denied the rumors in a report by Soompi, saying the actor traveled to Los Angeles for a “personal schedule.”
May 2019: Hyun Bin and Yejin confirmed to appear in Crash Landing on You
Fans of the couple are floored after Hyun Bin and Yejin confirmed they’ll reunite in the 2019-2020 rom-com Crash Landing on You. In case you forgot, the K-drama tells the story of successful businesswoman Yoon Seri (Son Yejin) who “crash lands” into North Korea and crosses paths with Captain Ri Jeonghyeok (Hyun Bin).
In an August 2019 interview with Esquire Korea, Hyun Bin revealed that he accepted the role of Captain Ri because he wanted to “try acting in the same space again” with Yejin.
December 2019: Crash Landing On You premieres to international acclaim
The kilig dramedy premiered on tvN and Netflix to international acclaim—solidifying Hyun Bin and Yejin’s status as Hallyu superstars.
Aside from the K-drama’s superb cinematography and heart-fluttering chemistry, Crash Landing on You also witnessed the couple’s strong acting abilities as a pair and as individuals.
February 2020: Dating rumors 2.0
Hyun Bin and Yejin are caught again in dating rumors when a fan pointed out in a behind-the-scenes video that they were holding hands under the table. However, Vast Entertainment denied the rumors once again, clarifying that Yejin was “holding her own hand.”
June 2020: Hyun Bin and Son Yejin attend the 2020 Baeksang Awards
Following the success of Crash Landing on You, Hyun Bin and Yejin attended the 2020 Baeksang Awards where they bagged the Popularity Award.
January 2021: Hyun Bin and Son Yejin confirm their relationship
After months of speculation, Hyun Bin and Yejin finally confirmed they’re in a relationship. VAST Entertainment and MSTeam, the actors’ respective agencies, revealed that the couple has been dating for “eight months.”
Yejin also spoke up about her relationship with Hyun Bin in an Instagram post where she posted a bouquet of pink flowers. “I’m thankful to have been able to meet a good person, and I’ll work hard to tend (our relationship) with care.”
February 2021: Hyun Bin and Yejin make fans kilig in a Smart commercial
The reel-to-real couple sent fans into a kilig-induced frenzy after appearing in the commercial for local telco brand Smart. According to Smart, Hyun Bin was confirmed as an endorser in June 2020, while Yejin was confirmed in August 2020.
February 2022: Hyun Bin and Son Yejin are engaged
Yejin and Hyun Bin finally confirmed that they’re getting married after months of speculation about their plans together. However, news about their upcoming wedding is yet to be announced.
Prior to their announcement, Yejin made headlines after describing Hyun Bin in a preview of the show You Quiz on the Block as her “first and possibly last love.”
March 2022: Hyun Bin and Son Yejin say ‘I do'
The power couple exchanged their wedding vows in a private ceremony at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel, Seoul on March 31. Yejin reportedly cried during the intimate affair and Hyun Bin was there to protect her.
The wedding was attended by the couple’s family and closest friends including Arthdal Chronicles actor Jang Dong-gun and It’s Okay, That’s Love actress Gong Hyojin, among others.
June 27, 2022: Son Yejin is pregnant
A mini BinJin is coming! Son Yejin confirmed in an Instagram post on Monday, June 27, that she’s expecting her first child with Hyun Bin.
“Today, I’ll be careful and happy. A new life has come to us. I’m still shivering but I’m living it every day due to the changes in my body in the midst of worry and excitement,” Yejin wrote.
