BTS to be included in Korean commemorative stamps for 2023
South Korean supergroup BTS will be one of the 23 commemorative stamps of the Korean Post for 2023.
According to a report by The Korea Herald, the commemorative stamps will be released with a “Record of Youth” theme. The Korean Post will collaborate with the group’s label Hybe to finalize the stamp design. It is set to be released in the first half of 2023.
Every year, about 20 commemorative stamps feature notable figures in history, events, or significant events. It is issued and deliberated by the Stamp Issuance Deliberation Committee, composed of university professors and other experts.
In Korea Post's press statement, they shared BTS' relevance to culture and to the world. “BTS is evaluated as a representative pop icon of the 21st century who conveys hope and comfort to the world through lyrics," as stated in the press statement.
The president of Korea Post Son Seung-hyun stated that through the stamps, they aim to further promote Korea's culture. “Postage stamps are a means to represent our country’s precious culture, beyond their meanings as proof of payment,” said Seung-hyun.
Other than BTS, Pororo, Korea’s beloved animated penguin, and the Korean alphabet "hangul" will also be featured in the set.
