For Sarah Geronimo, making history as the first Filipina to be honored at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music fueled her love and passion for her craft.

In an Instagram video uploaded on Thursday, March 7, the singer expressed her gratitude for having been able to represent the Philippines and OPM at the recently concluded event that put the spotlight on influential women in music.

"Sa Billboard Philippines, maraming maraming salamat for choosing me to represent our country at ang OPM at ang lahat ng ating napakahuhusay na mga artists, Pinoy artists. Para po sa inyong lahat ito," she said.

The "popstar royalty" also gave a special mention to her supporters. "Sa inyong lahat na naniniwala sa talento ko, sobrang inspiration, motivation po 'yung nabigay nito sa akin."

"Parang narenew 'yung fire sa puso ko, 'yung passion ko as an artist, at ang paniniwala ko lalo sa ating mga Pilipino na kayang kaya natin talagang to really go further, i-uplift pa, at talagang marecognize, ma-showcase ang Filipino world class talent on the global stage. Kayang kaya natin if we will just support, uplift one another," she added.

Sarah attended the awards show in Los Angeles, California with her husband, actor Matteo Guidicelli. She received the Global Force Award alongside Brazilian singer-songwriter Luísa Sonza and Italian artist Annalisa.

In another post, she said the recognition signifies courage and hope.

"Courage to accept and embrace oneself, and the courage to break boundaries and rise above all the setbacks and challenges that every artist needs to face," she explained. "And the hope that one day, this meaningful moment will bridge the gap between the Philippines and other nations, collaborating, uniting as one to create change and positivity in the world through music."
