Sharon Cuneta, Gabby Concepcion open to communicate again for daughter KC Concepcion
Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion, who had not spoken in a long time, are now open to staying in touch, especially for the sake of their daughter, actress KC Concepcion.
During their rehearsals for their upcoming concert "Dear Heart," the ex-couple admitted they felt awkward towards each other since their reunion for a concert that will happen on Oct. 27 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
"In the beginning, very ilang kami. He couldn't look at me, I didn't know how to interact with him. Kanina lang kami nag konting warm up," the Megastar said laughing during an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday.
They revealed they had not spoken to each other for a long time until they reunited for "Dear Heart" and that they wanted to keep the communication open for their daughter's sake.
"We haven't talked for a long time," Gabby said.
"We haven't, and we should," Sharon added. "We have a daughter together, right?"
"But that's for another day because we can't be calling each other up,” Gabby countered.
Gabby and Sharon got married in 1984 and welcomed their daughter KC the next year before finally splitting up in 1987.
Over the years, Sharon and KC's relationship had been rocky. Asked about his thoughts on the mother and daughter's tiff, Gabby told TV Patrol: “Hindi ko nasusubaybayan but everything should be fine. Ano naman sila e, nagsama naman sila nang matagal. Nanay naman niya ‘yon and anak naman niya yon, so…”
In a separate interview, Gabby also said that he hopes to sing with KC on stage and see the three of them together singing.
"Hopefully, makakanta kami. I would like to do a song with her; I would like to see KC and Sharon sing, and then I would like to see the three of us sing," he told 24 Oras.
“It’s an emotional time for all of us. It would be very meaningful for us na magsasama kaming tatlo sa stage,” he added.
