KC Concepcion hopes her parents' upcoming reunion concert is the 'start of their friendship'
Children are the happiest and most excited when they see their parents together, and actress KC Concepcion is one of those when her parents, Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion, announced they are reuniting for an upcoming concert.
In a press interview, KC shared her happiness with the media, saying that the concert is a great opportunity for her to fulfill her dreams of seeing her parents talking and getting along as friends.
"Ako lang 'yung anak nila so I don't think nararamdaman ng iba 'yung nararamdaman ko about this reunion kasi mixed emotions siya, but of course nananaig 'yung happiness ko," she said.
"So hopefully, guys, pag-pray nating lahat na ito na yung start ng friendship nila," she added while clarifying that this does not mean she expects her parents to be together again.
"I always say para sa lahat its a show, pero para sa 'kin, guys totoong buhay ko 'to," she explained.
The 38-year-old actress arrived in the country from the United States to promote her upcoming romantic comedy film Asian Persuasion which features a diverse, primarily Asian cast. The film seeks "to elevate, inform and inspire the Asian narrative" according to Variety.
Sharon and Gabby's Dear Heart concert will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on Oct. 27.
The pair first teased their concert in late July through an illustration of the silhouettes of a man and a woman who appear to be the veteran stars. While they didn't mention each other's names in their posts, fans speculated that they were set to reunite soon as their relationship bloomed in the 1981 film Dear Heart.
Cuneta and Concepcion tied their knot in 1984, three years after the premiere of the said film. They welcomed their daughter, KC, a year later, but got legally separated in 1987. Their marriage was annulled in 1993.
Cuneta is now married to former senator Kiko Pangilinan, while Concepcion is now with Genevieve Gonzales.
The concert comes five years after they last worked together for a kilig-filled commercial for a fast-food chain in 2018.
