Park Bo Ram's agency to take legal action against false, malicious posts

Park Bo Ram’s agency has issued a warning against false or malicious posts about the late singer.

On April 14, XANADU Entertainment said there were "malicious posts" circulating and comments that defamed her character.

"There are currently malicious posts about Park Bo Ram, as well as posts and comments defaming her character and containing groundless falsehoods, being spread indiscriminately on online communities, YouTube, and social media," wrote the statement as translated by Soompi.

The statement continued that Bo Ram received criticisms online "due to unproven claims" since her debut. They said that the fake news being spread about her even after her death "is a clear criminal act that is no different from killing the deceased twice."

"Our company, the bereaved family, and other acquaintances around her are also suffering immense shock and psychological pain from encountering these [falsehoods]," they said, requesting the posts to be taken down.

"If these kinds of acts continue in the future, we will respond with strong legal action by filing both civil lawsuits and criminal charges following the funeral arrangements. There will be no leniency or negotiation during this process," XANADU Entertainment warned.

They reminded the public to refrain from doing "hurtful" acts to Bo Ram's bereaved family and friends.

"We will make an announcement regarding the cause of death and funeral arrangements for the departed when they are confirmed," they added.

Bo Ram passed away on April 11, the agency confirmed. 

The Korea Herald reported that the singer was found unconscious at her acquaintance's house.

Bo Ram started her career as a contestant of Superstar K2 where she finished in the eighth spot. Since her 2014 debut, she has released chart-toppers, including Beautiful, Celepretty, and Sorry. She also sang the OST titled Hyehwadong for the popular K-drama Reply 1988.
