Han So Hee, Ryu Jun Yeol break up two weeks after making their relationship public

Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol have officially broken up, their agencies confirmed.

Local outlet EDaily first broke the news about their split on Saturday, March 30. Shortly after, Jun Yeol’s agency, C-JeS Studio, confirmed the news.

"It is true that Jun-yeol broke up with Han So-hee," the agency said. "Please understand that we have no other position than to acknowledge the breakup."

Han So Hee’s agency, 9ato Entertainment, also confirmed their split, saying that the two decided to prioritize their career as actors.

“Han So Hee and actor Ryu Jun Yeol have broken up. They realized that their roles as actors are greater. They have promised not to waste any emotions on personal matters any longer,” 9ato Entertainment said in a statement, as translated by local outlet Koreaboo.

They also noted how the actress and the public “suffered due to her personal feelings all this time.”

“The way she communicated [with the public] was not right. She is sorry. She will duly receive whatever criticism [there is]. Moreover, our responsibility is huge, for not being able to care for our actor as her agency,” they said.

“The company failed in its role as a nesting place. We are reflecting. Although it is very late, we are trying to correct it from now on.”

“We hope you will look over her warmly. She will return again healthy," they concluded.

This comes two weeks after they made their relationship public on March 16.

Their relationship faced backlash after the announcement, with social media users alleging that it overlapped with Ryu Jun Yeol’s previous relationship with actress Hyeri, whom he dated for seven years.

Han So Hee denied the allegations. In a blog post, the My Name actress addressed the rumors about the timeline of her relationship with Ryu Jun-yeol. She also asked the public to not use the term "transit love"—which in South Korean culture is when a person moves on quickly with a new partner—to describe their romance.

“It’s true that we met through the exhibition, but I went there through a friend who’s a photographer with the goal of viewing the exhibition, and because I’d heard the news that we might be doing a project together, I wound up saying hello," she previously said.

She noted that they started developing feelings for each other at the start of 2024. "His breakup with that person was already wrapped up in early 2023," she stressed.

"Based on this fact, I confirmed my own feelings, and I kept going with the relationship," she added.

On March 29, she made another lengthy post on Instagram to again deny speculations on their relationship being “transit love.”

In the same post, she also seemingly called out Ryu Jun Yeol for being “silent” amid the issue.

“I am also frustrated about the fact that one person involved in this matter is maintaining silence,” she wrote in her now-deleted post.
