'Demon Slayer: Mugen Train' tentative release date in Phl revealed
Anime film distributor ODEX has revealed the tentative release date for Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train in the Philippines.
In a YouTube video, ODEX said that the much-awaited installment in the popular anime series has been given a tentative release date of January 2021 and will screen exclusively in SM Cinemas. Cosplayer and ODEX Anime channel host Rea Kami said that ’Fan’s Screening’ and ‘Japan Import Fan’s Screening’ will be held in January 2021 while the anime film’s general release will happen by February 2021.
“In the Philippines, cinemas are also closed due to the COVID pandemic,” Kami said. “Similar to Indonesia, ODEX will adjust the release schedule if we get an earlier date announcement.”
Deadline reported that Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train has grossed over $30 million during the first three days of its theatrical release. In comparison, Disney’s Frozen 2 earned $18.2 million during the opening weekend in Japan. Deadline said that the figures could rise “above $40 million” but clarified that the numbers are not final as box office figures are tightly controlled out of Japan.
Helmed by Haruo Sotozaki, Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado and his companions as they take on the demon who has been tormenting passengers inside the Infinity Train. Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train premiered in Japanese theaters on October 16, 2020.
