Martial Law film 'Katips' to hold world tour; screened in Middle East, Japan, USA and more
After its FAMAS sweep, musical Martial Law-era film Katips is set to hold a worldwide screening starting this Sept. 13.
Dubbed as the 'Katips World Tour,' director and Atty. Vince Tañada shared that the film will first be screened in the Middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman) at the VOX Cinema from Sept. 13 to 14.
It will then be shown in over 10 more countries all over the world before the tour caps off in December back in Asia. Check out the full screening schedule here:

Meanwhile, Katips is based on the 2016 stage musical titled Katips: Ang Mga Bagong Katipunero.
First released in November of 2021, the film explores the experiences of student activists during martial law starring Tañada Jerome Ponce, Nicole Laurel, Adelle Ibarrientos, Johnrey Rivas, Mon Confiado, and more.
The film earned 17 nominations at the 70th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards and took home the awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Tañada, Best Cinematography for Manuel Abanto, and Best Original Song.
It had its Philippine theatrical release in August, the same time as the controversial Darryl Yap Martial Law film, Maid in Malacañang.
