Dad breaks down after son he tutored daily for a year fails math test

A dad in China broke down in tears upon learning that his son, whom he tutored daily for the past year, received a failing score of six out of 100 on a math exam.
The video of his breakdown went viral on Weibo with over 1 million views on the platform. The man's wife, who documented her husband's frustrations, was heard laughing behind the camera.
The father, who lives in Zhengzhou, Henan, had reportedly been staying up late to help his child learn math nearly every day for the past year. His son's score ranged from 40-50 points to 80-90 points in previous tests, according to the mother.
The child's latest test scores, however, weren't what the father hoped. The child failed his math test, scoring six out of 100—this caused the dad to burst into tears.
"I don't care anymore, my efforts have been wasted," the dad said in Chinese as he cried in the video. "Let him struggle by himself!"
Netizens sympathized with the dad's parenting struggles and made funny comments about the situation.
"Is it possible that the child did it on purpose?" one commenter wrote.
"It is understandable for parents to work hard, get angry, and be sad, but they should find the reason why the child's exam is bad this time, communicate well, don't beat, scold, and complain. Be patient," another said.
"Maybe [the child] went to bed too late and fell asleep during the exam," another joked.
