Mocha Mousse is Pantone's 2025 Color of the Year
Pantone has announced its 2025 Color of the Year: Mocha Mousse.
The New Jersey-based global authority on color on its website said Mocha Mousse, or PANTONE 17-1230, is a "soft, warming brown" with a "sophisticated, earthy elegance" that "can stand alone or serve as a versatile foundation, enhancing a wide range of palettes and applications—from minimalist to richly detailed designs—across all color-focused industries."
"PANTONE 17-1320 Mocha Mousse creates a strong chromatic foundation, complementing diverse applications, both minimalist and richly decorated, across design and all color conscious industries," it said.
Per Pantone, Mocha Mousse "nurtures with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of cacao, chocolate, and coffee, appealing to our desire of comfort."
Describing its "organic nature," the company said Mocha Mousse "honors and embraces the sustenance of our physical environment."
"Synchronizing with nature promotes balance, nourishes our soul, and positively impacts our mental well-being," it said. "Imbued with authenticity, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse finds harmony and balance between the demands of modernity and the timeless beauty of artful creation."
Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, said they looked for "a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others."
Leatrice Eiseman, the company's executive director, said Mocha Mousse "expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence."
"Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic," Eiseman said, "PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe."
Pantone reveals its Color of the Year every December.
For 2024, it chose Peach Fuzz, a "velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul."
