PETA opens casting call for 'One More Chance: The Musical'
Is it your dream to entertain a crowd by playing the role of Popoy or Basha? How about being part of the Thursday barkada?
The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) announced on Monday, Nov. 21 that they are holding auditions for One More Chance: The Musical, which is set to be staged in April 2024.
Those auditioning for the role of Popoy must channel a male engineer in his 20s. He is described as a go-getter but always needs to be in control. Talents who are hoping to play Basha, meanwhile, must embody a female architect and shirt designer in her 20s. Unlike Popoy, she tends to bottle up emotions and avoid confrontation. Check out more of the available roles here.
Interested applicants must submit a video of themselves performing 16 bars or one stanza and a chorus of any OPM song, preferably by Ben&Ben, with a minus one track. They are also required to perform four bars of choreography to any contemporary modern music.
The audition clip should also contain a quick introduction of themselves, stating their name, age, height, and the last production they worked on. It must be recorded in landscape mode in a well-lit room and must show their full body. It must be sent along with their curriculum vitae and confirmation of availability here.
The application period is until Nov. 26, 11:59 p.m. Keep in mind that late or missing requirements will not be entertained. Expect an email confirmation at 6 p.m. on the day of submission.
It will be followed by live auditions at PETA Theater Center on Dec. 4 and 5 from 2 to 10 p.m. Callbacks will be held on Dec. 12 and 13, at the same time and venue.
Rehearsals will be done from mid-February to April next year.
The 2007 film One More Chance follows the story of long-time lovers (played by Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz) who encounter some hurdles in their relationship as they pursue their dreams as individuals. It had a sequel, A Second Chance, which premiered in 2015.
