Bea Alonzo on network transfer: 'Change is always scary, but it can also be beautiful'
Bea Alonzo addressed her fans in a YouTube video on Thursday, July 1, following her much talked-about move to GMA-7, leaving ABS-CBN after two decades.
In the vlog, titled "New Beginnings," the 33-year-old thanked her fans and ABS-CBN, which gave Bea her start as an actress in 2002.
"They trusted in me and helped me hone my talent. I will never forget everything that they have done for me," Bea said, adding she wouldn't be where she is today without the help of ABS-CBN's "most talented writers, brilliant directors, and most professional co-actors."
"I cannot forget the day that my life has changed because (ABS-CBN) trusted in me," she added.
Her career as an actress in ABS-CBN, the One More Chance star said, allowed her to make friends and touch lives while doing what she loves doing, acting.
"Hindi ko rin inaasahan na that has become my biggest gift—to touch people’s lives," she said.
Bea further explained: "With that, is one of the biggest responsibilities that I have to manage. I have to say that my fans are very important to me. They give me a sense of purpose, a sense of community."
But the actress said she also believes in "following my heart and purpose," which led her to the decision to move to GMA-7.
"For many months, I have reflected on so many things about my life. I have also embraced many changes in my life. And after many months of reflection and negotiations, we have reached a decision," Bea said.
Bea signed an exclusive network contract with GMA-7 on Thursday, July 1.
"I am an actress. I am here to create. That is my purpose. And that is my task. I owe that to my audience," she added.
And while "goodbyes are painful," Bea said she knows her new journey as a Kapuso will "lead me to a door of many opportunities and new learnings and growth."
"Change is always scary. But it can also be beautiful."
She ended, "This decision is both exciting and terrifying for me. If there’s anything this pandemic has taught me, it’s that you only live once and life is short. You need to do things that you make feel alive. And that for me is chasing my dreams and performing my purpose."
