Microsoft launches Xbox Series X on November 10 for $499

After a series of leaks ahead of its announcement, Microsoft officially revealed the price and launch date of the Xbox Series X.

As previously rumored, the tech company confirmed that the higher tier variant of its next-gen console has a price tag of $499 while the all-digital Xbox Series S is priced at $299. Both consoles will be launched on November 10 while pre-orders will begin on September 22.

Microsoft explained that the cheaper variant of its next-gen console will deliver the same speed and performance like the Xbox Series X but will play games at 1440p at 60 frames per second, with support for up to 120fps. The Xbox Series S is powered by the Xbox Velocity Architecture, delivering faster loading times, steadier frame rates and quick resume for various titles. 

Aside from the announcement of the release date, Microsoft revealed that both next-gen consoles will be available via the Xbox All Access program. Under the service, customers may purchase the Xbox Series S along with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription for $24.99 a month for 24 months with no upfront cost while those who are willing to shell out an extra $10 per month ($34.99) for 24 months can get the more potent Xbox Series X. 

The company said that the Xbox All Access will be expanded to 12 countries later this year. The program will be available at launch in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, UK and US, with more countries to come in 2021. In addition to over 100 game titles, Game Pass subscribers will also get to have access to 60 EA titles including FIFA 20, Titalfall 2, and Need for Speed Heat with no additional cost under the EA Play membership.
