LOOK: This stylish sling bag keeps food hot or cold wherever you go
You know what they say, Japan really is living in 2050.
Japan is top-notch when it comes to modern innovations. A foot pressure point gel sheet? They've done that. Convenient food packaging designs? Check. Heated toilets? Done! And now, their latest innovation includes a stylish microwave bag.
Tokyo-based company Willtex has showcased WILLCOOK—a lightweight, portable, bag-shaped microwave that can heat your food while on the go—at the Consumer Electronics Show 2024 in Las Vegas and has won an innovation award, the Daily Mail Online reported, and it's perfect for those who frequently "Sharon" or take home food from parties.
Multi-functional insulated bag
The WILLCOOK bag is made out of "patented technology in which the cloth generates heat" and powered by a rechargeable battery. With this innovation, you can reheat your food in 20 minutes as the fabric system reaches up to 80°C in just 5 minutes.
For instance, "A warm PET bottle purchased at a convenience store quickly cools down, but by placing it in the WILLCOOK, it can be kept at 60°C, a temperature that adults find tasty, for two hours," Willtex said.
And if you're already thinking, no, you won't get burned while carrying this bag as it has a cotton and aluminum outer layer that protects users from the heat.
This bag isn't just for heating food, but for cooling, too!
Users can keep their drinks cool during summer at 4-8°C for 2 to 3 hours as WILLCOOK has a high cooling power made possible by the effect of the heat-insulating cotton and the aluminum film with a high heat shielding effect that is included for heat retention.
User-friendly design
The idea of making it easy to carry as a bag makes heating and cooling easier and more convenient while on the go. It also saves time as you can do the process while in travel. The bag is especially helpful for parents with babies and for emergencies during power outages.
The bag is available in colors: Khaki and Brown. Its lining is made of a washable fabric that is resistant to water, oil, and stains.
While it weighs just 280g, the sling bag can tolerate heavy items and repeated motions. If it rips, it can be cut and stitched using a sewing machine just like ordinary fabric.
Moreover, the bag is powered by a dedicated portable battery. A charged battery can last up to 8 hours and can be charged via a USB Micro-B terminal or AC charging adapter.
Making it an on-the-go microwave bag, an app called "HOTOPIA" allows users to adjust the temperature and check the battery level from their smartphones.
How to avail?
Citing Willtex, Daily Mail Online said that the Japanese firm aims to release the product in the UK in May via Amazon, with costs between £120 (P8,492.29) to £150 (P10,615.34).
As of writing, there is no news yet on the availability of WILLCOOK in other countries, including the Philippines.
