Zoning out from Zoom? This new app allows you to escape with amusing, excusable reasons
While work meetings are very important, they can get quite draining, too.
If you’ve been finding yourself ZOOMed out during virtual calls, you might want to check out Zoom Escaper—your potential work-from-home best friend.
With the web widget crafted by talented creative Sam Lavigne, you can make use of fake audio effects that can treat you to a myriad of reasons to sneak away from an online conference.
What kind of effects are we talking about here? Well, a wide range of options—from dogs to upset babies, a man weeping, construction, bad connection, urination, and so much more! Extra bonus: it’s free and easy to navigate.
“All you need to do is download a free bit of audio software called VB-Audio that routes your audio through the website, then changes your audio input in Zoom from your microphone to VB-Audio, and play with the effects,” according to The Verge.
Upon testing the app, the technology website found that bad connection, echo, and upset baby could work best in Zoom meetings. The thing, however, is that the last-mentioned effect “requires that people believe you have a baby,” the report noted. “And if you’re prepared to fake the existence of a child in order to get out of Zoom meetings with your co-workers, then perhaps you have bigger issues with work than a few annoying video meetings.”
This is just one of the incredibly fun creations of Lavigne. He also came up with the Zoom Deleter, which "continually checks for the presence of Zoom on your computer, and if found, immediately deletes it.”
