Face off against aliens and zombie hordes with April’s PlayStation Plus game lineup

Published Apr 05, 2021 2:32 pm

Sony has revealed that Oddworld: Soulstorm, Days Gone, and Zombie Army 4: Dead War are its PlayStation Plus games for April 2021.

Oddball protagonist Abe returns to save his fellow mudokons from slave labor in Oddworld: Soulstorm for the PlayStation 5.

Meanwhile, PlayStation 4 users can channel their inner Daryl Dixon and customize a cool bike in order to survive Freaker hordes in Days Gone or battle it out with squad guns blazing in Zombie Army 4: Dead War.

Announced on the PlayStation Blog, all three games will be available for PS Plus members to download beginning Tuesday, April 6. Players will have until Monday, May 3 to add the games to their libraries.

Here’s a closer look at this month’s latest game selection.

Oddworld: Soulstorm (PS5)

Oddworld’s unlikely protagonist Abe returns in this action adventure platformer set directly after the events of 2014’s Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty. This re-imagining of 1998's Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus features a new crafting system in which Abe can craft and customize different weapons.

Having undergone a transformation from clueless cog in a mega-corporate machine to unlikely hero and beacon of hope, Abe must now save his fellow Mudokons by any means necessary. As you recruit more followers, stick to stealth and puzzle solving to survive or scavenge goods and craft an arsenal to liberate your friends.

Oddworld: Soulstorm, which was featured in Sony’s February 2021 State of Play, is actually launching the same day it's available for PS5 PS Plus subscribers.

Days Gone (PS4)

Days Gone is an action-adventure survival horror video game set in a post-apocalyptic Oregon two years after the start of a global pandemic. Sound familiar?

As drifter and bounty hunter, Deacon St. John, you ride into a desperate, dog-eat-dog open world of the Pacific Northwest. In the game, you have to risk the threats of the broken road on the back of your trusty bike as you face swarms of mindless feral Freakers—and equally terrifying humans.

Devise your strategies as you customize weapons and skills, craft traps and upgrade your bike as you try and survive the unforgiving wilderness.

Originally released in 2019 as a PlayStation 4 game, Days Gone has since been given a PS5 update that allows the game to run at 60 FPS with a dynamic 4K resolution. PS5 PS Plus subscribers will already have access to Days Gone as part of the PS Plus Collection.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War (PS4)

Hitler’s hordes are back for more in this spine-chilling third-person tactical shooter from the makers of Sniper Elite 4. Abominable occult enemies, epic weapons and a harrowing new campaign for 1-4 players await in 1940s Europe, as you fight to save humankind from undead Armageddon.

Continue the alternate history of Zombie Army Trilogy in huge new levels, and uncover a sinister plan that takes the Survivor Brigade across Italy and beyond.

PS Plus subscribers still have until Monday (April 5) to claim the PS Plus offerings for March, which includes Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Farpoint VR, Remnant: From the Ashes, and Maquette

Oddworld: Soulstorm, Days Gone, and Zombie Army 4: Dead War will be available to download starting April 6, 2021. All three games will be playable on PlayStation 5, while only the last two will be available for PlayStation 4 subscribers.

In case you missed it, you can still download a bunch of cool new games this month free of charge from Sony's “Play at Home” initiative, with no active PlayStation Plus subscription required.

Free games for PS4 and PS5 users include ABZÛ, Enter the Gungeon, Rez Infinite, Subnautica, The WitnessAstro Bot Rescue Mission, Moss, Thumper, and Paper Beast. The critically acclaimed action-adventure title Horizon Zero Dawn will also be free to download starting April 19.
