Sponge Cola releases new single inspired by K-drama 'Queen of Tears'
Pinoy rock band Sponge Cola has dropped its latest single inspired by the K-drama Queen of Tears.
The latest track, dubbed Tatlong Buwan, was officially released on April 24. According to the band’s frontman, Yael Yuzon, he wrote the song after watching episode 10 of the series.
A few days later, he and his team flew to South Korea to shoot the music video, where they went to key places in Seoul and Chunju to recreate scenes from the series.
“[J]ust a labor of love from a fellow Queen of Tears fan. I couldn’t help it; it was too moving to not write. There was an overwhelming need for a catharsis,” he wrote in his caption.
In 2020, the band also released a lyric video for Siguro Nga, which they filmed in key locations of the hit K-drama Start-Up.
Queen of Tears follows the “miraculous, thrilling, and humorous love story” of a married couple after surviving a crisis, according to K-entertainment site Soompi. It was written by Park Ji Eun, who helmed hit K-dramas Crash Landing on You, My Love From the Star, and The Producers.
It was recently hailed as the second-highest rating in tvN’s history, overtaking the 2016 drama Goblin.
Nearing its finale on April 28, the network said that they will be airing a two-part special episode on May 4 and 5. It will feature the main cast: Kim Ji Won, Kim Soo Hyun, Park Sung Hoon, Kwak Dong Yeon, and Lee Joo Bin.
