Marvel announces 'The Fantastic Four' reboot cast

The cast of The Fantastic Four reboot has finally been revealed.

Leading the cast of the upcoming Marvel offering is Pedro Pascal, who will play Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic). Joining him are Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm (The Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing).

Pascal gained recognition for his work in The Last of Us and Game of Thrones while Kirby is acclaimed as a stage actress before rising to international prominence for her role as Princess Margaret in the Netflix drama series The Crown.

Quinn is best known for portraying Eddie Mudson in the fourth season of the science-fiction horror series Stranger Things whereas Moss-Bachrach landed a major role in the comedy-drama series The Bear.

Seating on the director's chair for the reboot is Matt Shakman, who previously produced and directed the Marvel series WandaVision. The screenplay will be made by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. 

While story details are still under wraps, the original Fantastic Four plotline began with the heroes as astronauts who gained superhuman abilities after being exposed to to cosmic rays in space, with Reed acquiring elastic powers, Susan with invisibility and force field generation, Johnny with fire powers, and Ben mutating into a rock monster. 

Marvel's upcoming film serves as the second reboot of the Fantastic Four in film. The first one was released in 2005. It focused on the group's origin story, which stars Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Julian McMahon, and was followed by a sequel that centered on the Silver Surfer character.

The first reboot premiered in 2015, which had Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell portraying the superhero quartet.

Marvel's The Fantastic Four is set to be released in July 2025 as part of the studio's Phase Six. Other films in the group include Thunderbolts, Blade, Avengers 5, and Avengers: Secret Wars.
