Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin to star in new Netflix K-drama 'The Trunk'
Good news, K-drama fans! Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin will co-star in upcoming Netflix series The Trunk.
According to The Korea Times, the new K-drama series revolves around music producer Han Jeong-won (Gong Yoo) who "finds himself entangled in an unexpected marriage contract with No In-ji (Seo Hyun-Jin), who works for a matchmaking company." It's based on a novel by Kim Ryeo-ryeong.
Both coming from failed marriages, their jaded views on love are not going to help them ease through the process of living together as husband and wife. This, however, changes when the two find a mysterious trunk in a lake, revealing secrets about the matchmaking agency.
The Trunk will be directed by Kim Gyu-tae, the man behind the hit 2022 drama Our Blues. Park Eun-young, who wrote Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, will work her brilliance as the show's screenwriter. Further details, including its release date, are yet to be revealed.
This is the second Netflix series that Yoo is starring in, following his role in the 2021 sci-fi show The Silent Sea. He also made a cameo appearance as a recruiter in Squid Game, which premiered in the same year.
Yoo is best known for his roles in Coffee Prince, Train to Busan, and Guardian: The Great and Lonely God.
Hyun-jin, meanwhile, rose to fame through her characters in Another Miss Oh, Dr. Romantic, The Beauty Inside, You Are My Spring, and Why Her. She started out as the main vocalist of the girl group M.I.L.K. in 2001 and pursued a solo career after its disbandment.
