Hugh Jackman did '800 press-ups' in one day for 'Deadpool & Wolverine'
Hugh Jackman's commitment to his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 was something else.
In a new interview on Virgin Radio UK, his co-star Rob Delaney revealed that Jackman did 800 press-ups in a single day for the film. It happened in between takes on set.
“Hugh Jackman, right? He’s so ripped and muscular and sleeveless and often shirtless and that he’s a very nice guy,” the 47-year-old star began. “I thought that the superhero muscles in these movies were like cosmetics. Not that they weren’t literally on your body, but that they were more about show than strength.”
According to him, Jackman "would routinely drop to the floor and do press-ups" during the production of the film.
"I saw him do 800 press-ups in one day, and they’re slow and perfect form," he said. "So literally, if a bus fell on you and he was there, you wouldn’t have to worry. He would promptly remove it from you and you’d be okay."
Delaney portrays the role of Peter "Sugar Bear" in the third Deadpool installment.
Deadpool & Wolverine follows an organization called the Time Variance Authority pulling Deadpool from his quiet life and setting him on a mission that will change the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) alongside Wolverine.
The film is the series’ first entry in the MCU. Rival studio 20th Century Fox was the original producer and distributor of the Deadpool and X-Men movies before Disney, Marvel’s parent company, purchased 20th Century Fox and the rights to the characters.
It also serves as the return of Jackman as Wolverine after 2017's Logan, which is the final installment in the Wolverine series of films.
The upcoming Deadpool film also stars Ryan Reynolds, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić. It's set to hit the theaters later this month.
