Netflix adapts Rick Riordan’s The Kane Chronicles mythology series
Best-selling author Rick Riordan, creator of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, has just inked a deal with Netflix to develop feature film adaptations for his other mythology book series, The Kane Chronicles.
Riordan shares this new development on his Twitter and Instagram accounts, as well as his website, saying, “Hey, guys! An exciting announcement posted on social media concerning The Kane Chronicles: We are developing the series for feature films on Netflix! We have been working on this deal since last October, about the same time we started on Percy, and I’m so glad I can announce it! That’s all I can say for the moment, but stay tuned.”
The Kane Chronicles is a trilogy of books that revolve around the existence of ancient Egyptian gods in the modern world through the eyes of siblings Sadie and Carter Kane.
Their adventures across three books – The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire and The Serpent’s Shadow – has captivated readers worldwide and attracted a massive following among fans of young adult literature. The series is set in the same universe as Riordan's other franchises, Camp Half-Blood Chronicles and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard.
With this new deal done, another one of Riordan’s mythological works is set to cross over onto the screen. Riordan is also working on a Percy Jackson series at Disney Plus.
With two of Riordan’s best-selling works arriving at the streaming space, it’s a sure bet that we can see more of his beloved book characters appear in future live action films.
