Amy Adams returns for ‘Enchanted’ sequel ’Disenchanted’
It's the happily ever after we've all been waiting for!
Amy Adams is officially returning as Princess Giselle in Disenchanted, the long-awaited sequel to the hit musical film Enchanted.
Disney Studios President of Production Sean Bailey made the official announcement on the sequel currently in development on Thursday (Dec. 11) during Disney 2020 Investor Day. The sequel will stream exclusive on Disney Plus.

Enchanted, originally released in 2007, was a hybrid animated/live-action film that paid homage and self-parodied Disney animated princess musicals, focusing on a cartoon princess who gets thrown into the real world in modern day New York City.
The musical fantasy rom com starred Amy Adams as Giselle, the eternally optimistic singing and dancing princess from Andalasia; Patrick Dempsey as Robert, a cynical New York City divorce attorney; James Marsden as Prince Edward; Susan Sarandon as the evil Queen Narissa; Timothy Spall as the Queen’s henchman; and Idina Menzel as Nancy, Robert’s workaholic fiancé.
No official plot details have been revealed for Disenchanted. As reported by Comicbook.com, development for the sequel initially started back in 2010 and has been in the works over the years. At one point, Adam Shankman (Hairspray) was reportedly on board as the film's director.
At the end of Enchanted, Giselle settled in New York with Robert and his 6-year old daughter Morgan, while Prince Edward and Nancy returned to the animated world of Andalasia where they got married. According to previous news reports on earlier scripts, the sequel will pick up a decade after the first film, with Giselle questioning her happily-ever-after life, accidentally triggering events that make everyone's lives turn upside-down in the real world and in Andalasia.
The first film was nominated for three Academy Awards in the Best Song category for Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz’s tunes Happy Working Song, So Close and That’s How You Know.
There's been no confirmation yet if the rest of the original cast including James Marsden or Patrick Dempsey will appear in the sequel.
