Taylor Swift pulls ‘Fearless (Taylor’s version)’ from Grammys, CMA consideration

Taylor Swift has made the fearless decision to not submit the re-recording of her 2008 album Fearless for the upcoming Grammy and Country Music Association Awards. 

“After careful consideration, Taylor Swift will not be submitting ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ in any category at this year’s upcoming Grammy and CMA Awards,” a Republic Records representative confirmed to Billboard on Tuesday, July 20.

The music label explained that Swift’s second studio album has already won four Grammys, an “Album of the Year” award from both award-giving bodies, and it “remains the most awarded country album of all time.”

Despite this, the singer’s ninth studio album Evermore will be submitted to the Grammys “for all eligible categories.”

Republic Records also pointed out that Swift’s decision “leaves room for voters to focus on Evermore, rather than potentially split their votes between the two projects.”

The Recording Academy, which presents the Grammys, and the Country Music Association Awards declined to comment on the matter, as of this writing.

Swift first announced plans to re-record her albums held under her previous music label Big Machine Records in 2019. A re-recorded version of her 2012 album Red is currently in the works.
