‘No reunion plans’ for Harry Potter 20th anniversary
“You’re a wizard, Harry.”
It’s been almost 20 years since that iconic line was first heard on screen. A humble beginning to what would become one of the biggest and successful book to movie adaptations ever.
That’s right, the beloved Harry Potter film franchise will be celebrating the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’s debut on November 14, marking its 20th anniversary.
It’s no surprise that fans are anticipating to see their childhood stars reunite to celebrate the franchise’s milestone anniversary.
But alas, any hopes for a Harry Potter cast reunion is flushed down the drain when Daniel Radcliffe, The Boy Who Lived himself, told Entertainment Weekly that the chances are pretty slim.
“I don't know,” he admitted. “I'm sure there will be some sort of celebration but I don't know if we will be getting together or anything. I'm sorry if that's a bit of a disappointment to anyone."
Radcliffe first donned the titular role when he was merely a twelve-year-old boy, along with Emma Watson as the studious Hermoine, and Rupert Grint as the red-headed best friend, Ron Wesley.
"I'm in the Dominican Republic at the moment filming and then I'm going to be busy, kind of working on bits and pieces until the end of the year," he explained. Currently, Radcliffe is promoting the third season of the anthology comedy series, Miracle Workers.
Nevertheless, Radcliffe admits even though he hasn’t rewatched any of the Wizarding World films, he still recalls fond memories while shooting it. Fans also don’t need to worry since most of the cast still keep in touch with each other.
Tom Felton—who played Harry’s Slytherin archnemesis, Draco Malfoy—in an interview with People before, is pretty vocal about the franchise on his Instagram account. He even greeted his on-screen dad, Jason Isaacs a Happy Father’s Day and Matthew Dave Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, a Happy Birthday.
As for the stars, most of them have gone their separate ways and some under the radar. Currently, not much is known about Emma Watson except for her advocacy works and previous films such as Disney’s live-adaptation of Beauty and the Beast and Little Women. Rupert Grint, on the other hand, now stars in the Apple TV+ psychological thriller, Servant.
