VP Leni Robredo thanks supporters for handmade gifts in closet haul stream, bares plan for a 'pink museum'
Vice President Leni Robredo took to Facebook Live to show appreciation to her supporters for the tons of handmade gifts she has received throughout the election's campaign season.
In the video, Robredo was seen back at the Office of the Vice President in Quezon City to sort through the gifts, which she said would either be given to volunteers, to her home, or to a "pink museum" that she hopes to build.
"Marami kasi dito na ayaw talaga namin bitawan dahil sobrang historic at sobrang meaningful nung nangyari noong seven months so ngayon nagdedecide kami kung anong gagawin," she said.
Among the gifts the presidential candidate received were paintings, crocheted scarves and coasters, woven bags, earrings, eye mask, rosaries, essential oils, custom tumblers, pink blouses, a hand-painted purse, keychains, and more.
Robredo also received a pink Instax camera from Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid's son Nate, which she said she'll keep in her office.
In addition, the VP received a handmade headband, which she said she'll give to Jolina Magdangal. She also thanked the actress' husband Mark Escueta and his band Rivermaya for their support.
"Sobrang love ko talaga si Jolina at si Mark. MVP talaga kayong Rivermaya and Jolina. Alam niyo guys, sobrang saludo ako sa inyo kasi wala kayong hinindian kahit sobrang hirap, pinupuntahan niyo, kahit sobrang layo," Robredo said.
One of the more unique gifts the VP got were pink surfboards with her name from Siargao and Borongan, which she said will go to their planned museum.
Supporters also gave her shoes in beige and pink and while opening these gifts, Robredo shared that she has only a few shoes in rotation as she likes to utilize them to the fullest.
In the comments section of the live video, Facebook users were commenting "mine" with the items they saw onscreen as if Leni were live selling. The VP and her team did take note of some users who were asking for stuff like blouses, saying she'll give those to them.
While sorting through the gifts, Robredo also made sure to take note of who they were from. "Just make sure alam natin kung galing kanino," she remarked.
Her 'happiest' campaign
One of her rivals for the presidency, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., who is leading the race with over 31 million votes in the partial and unofficial results, has already claimed victory. Despite the impending loss, the VP said this was her "happiest" campaign and gave a glimpse of her plans.
"Gusto ko ito ipakita kasi di ako nakapagpasalamat enough sa mga nagbibigay pero pinag-iisipan namin baka pwede yung iba ilagay natin sa museum. Tapos yung iba, up in the air palang to pero baka auction lalo na yung artwork kasi pwedeng pang simula natin ng Angat Buhay programs moving forward," she said.
"Wala pong nasayang sa ginawa natin. Lagi ko po tong sinasabi despite seeming results, ito ang pinaka-happy na campaign I've ever been involved in at dahil 'yan sa inyo."
The VP also expressed amazement at the creativity shown by supporters.
"Grabe ka-amazing ng mga binigay niyo sa amin. Ang dream ko ay magkaroon ng lugar to display what you gave us. Part ito ng kwento ng awakening na magbebenefit yung maraming kabataan," Robredo said.
"Nakakaoverwhelm kasi pag hindi pa nagkakampanya ng ganito, di ko maiisip yung husay ng creativity [ng mga Pilipino.]"
