Getting impatient for updates regarding the fifth and final season of the Stranger Things?

Well, here's some news that's music to your ears: David Harbour, who stars in the hit science fiction horror series, revealed that the filming for the fifth season will begin in a few months from now.

"We're walking into season five. I've got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season," Harbour said during his appearance at the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi, as reported by Collider.

In the series, the 47-year-old actor plays as Jim Hopper, the local chief of police in the rural town of Hawkins and Eleven's adoptive father. The character spent the majority of the fourth season in a Russian prison before he was eventually reunited with Eleven and his love interest Joyce.

"I did a lot of training for season four. He [Hopper] was in a very specific position, that Russian prison. It was about making him a different guy and sort of shedding a layer of himself physically, mentally, and emotionally. But now he's back in town, he's back in America where they have cheeseburgers, so he will be well-fed," Harbour said of his character.

Back in August, the writers of the series announced that discussions for the fifth season of the show had officially begun. Showrunner Matt Duffer said in an interview with Collider that they have plans to make the final season shorter than the fourth, but that it will still be longer than the first seasons in order to tie up loose ends.

Not much else is known about what season five will be all about as the showrunners are still keeping details under wraps. However, it is expected that Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, and Sadie Sink will return.

Stranger Things first premiered on Netflix in 2016 and quickly rose to fame because of its story, which centers around a human experimentation facility opening a gateway between an alternate dimension called the Upside Down and the normal world. This then starts to affect the unwitting residents of Hawkins in calamitous ways.
