Published May 26, 2023 4:00 pm

Globe users enjoy the best experience when streaming videos, playing multiplayer mobile games, and using voice apps, both overall and on 5G, according to the latest Opensignal Philippines Mobile Network Experience Report.

Globe has surpassed its closest competitor as the outright winner for all three overall experiential awards: Video Experience, Games Experience, and Voice App Experience.

Additionally, Globe has emerged as the sole winner of the corresponding 5G Experience awards, retaining its lead in 5G Video Experience from the previous report in October 2022. Globe has also secured outright wins in the 5G Games Experience and 5G Voice App Experience categories which it previously shared with its rival network provider.

These recognitions have catapulted Globe as the most awarded mobile operator in the OpenSignal report, winning a total of seven awards.

For its April 2023 report, the mobile analytics company analyzed the mobile network experience of the Philippines’ three national operators—Globe, Smart, and DITO—for 90 days from Jan. 1 to March 31, both on national and regional levels.

They also analyzed the experience of Filipino users when connected to 5G technology and the overall experience of 5G users.

Opensignal is the independent global standard for analyzing consumer mobile experience to help improve connectivity across the globe. Its industry reports are the definitive guide to understanding the true experience consumers receive on wireless networks, based on billions of measurements of real-user experience and scientific analyses.

Best video experience

Globe has emerged as the new outright winner of the Video Experience award, replacing the previous winner, Smart. This means that Globe users, on average, have the best experience in the Philippines when streaming mobile video over cellular connections, measured across all generations of mobile technology.

Globe won with a score of 58.2 points on a 100-point scale, ahead of second-placed DITO’s 56.2 points, while former winner Smart is now in third place with 52.9 points.

Globe is also the only Filipino operator to place in the Good (58-68) category, while Smart and DITO placed one category lower—Fair (48-58). This means that Globe users can, on average, stream videos at 720p or better, with satisfactory loading times and minimal stalling.

Turning to the overall video experience of 5G users, Globe users had the best experience with a score of 63.9 points, giving the network provider a lead of 4.4 points over Smart.

Globe is the sole winner of the 5G Video Experience award for the third time in a row, with a score of 74.2 points, leading Smart’s 69.7 points by 4.5 points.

Best gaming experience

Globe users have the best overall experience in the Philippines when playing multiplayer mobile games over cellular connections.

Globe’s win was driven by an impressive increase of 12.1 points (26 percent) with a score of 58.8 points and a lead of 1.2 points over the second placer.

Looking at the overall games experience of 5G users, Globe users also had the best experience with a score of 60.3 points, giving Globe a lead of 2.6 points over the network provider occupying the second spot.

Best voice app experience, 5G upload

Globe completes the overall experiential awards by replacing its closest competitor as the outright winner of the Voice App Experience award, with a score of 75.5 points.

It also earned a place in the Acceptable (74-80) category, indicating that users are generally satisfied, and listeners can comprehend conversations without the need to repeat words.

In terms of the overall voice app experience of 5G users, Globe users had the best experience with a score of 76.2 points, giving Globe a lead of 1.2 points over the second-place holder.

Globe continues to be the outright winner of the 5G Upload Speed award, having taken it from its closest competitor in the April 2023 Report. This time, Globe wins with a score of 11.6 Mbps.
