Employee skips work for 15 years, allegedly still received salary totaling P31 million
An Italian hospital employee who allegedly hasn’t reported to work in 15 years—but still gets paid every month—is now being investigated by authorities.
In the case codename “Part Time,” Italian police sifted through company records, attendance, and salary slips and found that the man hasn’t gone to a single day of work since 2005, accumulating a total of €538,000, or P31 million, through the years.
The absent employee accomplished the deed by initially threatening a hospital director who sought to reprimand him in 2005. The director let it go and eventually retired, leaving the employee’s payroll running until it reached the 15 long years.
The man started the excessive absences when he was 52. He is now 67 and facing charges of abuse of office, forgery, and aggravated extortion. The Italian media have gone to dub the employee as the ”King of Absentees.”
