After Eraserheads, a musical featuring Parokya ni Edgar's songs is coming soon
Better get ready for a big surprise, OPM fans—a musical featuring Parokya ni Edgar's songs is coming your way soon.
The upcoming musical performance was teased by the Full House Theater Company during the final curtain call of Ang Huling El Bimbo The Musical (AHEB) held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on Sunday, July 23.
A video of it was shared by Dingdong Novenario, writer of Eraserheads-inspired musical, on the same day. "Reveal yourself..." Novenario captioned his post, noting that he wouldn't be the one to write the upcoming play.
In the clip, performers of AHEB sang a portion of Parokya ni Edgar's 1997 hit song Harana. Meanwhile, icons representing the band's famous songs were being flashed on the screen behind them. This includes a guitar (Harana), pizza (Picha Pie), a mustache (Mr. Suave), and two bottles of beer (Inuman Na). It ended with the words, "Abangan 2024."
On July 23, crowd favorite AHEB ran its 175th show and reunited cast members from the 2018 and 2019 shows gathered for a group shot. Directed by Dexter Santos and written by Dingdong Novenario, the musical incorporates the music of OPM icon Eraserheads into a tale focusing on the "friendship of Joy, Hector, Anthony, and Emman as they navigate life."
Meanwhile, details for Full House Theater Company's upcoming 2024 musical, including its plot, showtime, and ticket selling, are yet to be announced.
