Couple uses ChatGPT to write their wedding vows and 'take stress away'

For some couples, just thinking about writing their wedding vows for each other can be quite overwhelming. This is why a pair from Colorado came up with a solution to ease their stress: use artificial intelligence (AI).

In a report by Insider, Denver-based sweethearts Molly Price and Erik Sorensen decided to stray from the traditional way of writing their wedding vows and opt for a more modern means, letting AI tools ChatGPT and Joy's Writer's Block Assistant do the work for them.

"I mean, we've been together for a while. We've been through a lot, so there's a lot of things that I want to include," Price said. "It's kind of a Frankenstein culmination for me."

Price, who is set to tie the knot with Sorensen in October, made use of Writer's Block Assistant as a starting point to write the vows, being a tool designed to specifically help someone draft their "toughest wedding-related wordage."

The way it works is that users need to input the type of text they're looking for help with, such as vows or a love story for their wedding website, and enter information about the context and their preferred style of writing. They are then assisted by prompts such as "our shared values" and "what you love most about your partner."

Price later utilized ChatGPT to add "humor, voice, and color" to the text and check if there were parts that needed more details or simply get cut.

"I use ChatGPT to kind of change the tone-of-voice and make it a little less robotic. which is weird because it's coming from AI," Price said.

But why use a machine to write what's considered one of the most intimate and personal things you can express to your partner? According to the soon-to-be bride, this was to help ease her wedding planning anxiety, confessing to Insider that "words aren't her strong suit, especially in front of a crowd."

"Essentially, to me, coming up with a speech felt like having a big research paper, so it definitely took the stress away from that," Price said.

If not for these AI tools, she said she would have stood at the altar and simply said, "Thank you, Mom and Dad."
