The Game Awards 2020 GOTY nominees and other major categories

The Game Awards 2020, the biggest celebration in the global gameverse, is a little over a week away.

The video game industry’s year-end celebration will be returning live on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 as a free digital live stream available across more than 45 global video platforms. 

The Game Awards has gone virtual this year because of the pandemic and will be adapting a multi-city approach to its 2020 broadcast. The show is expected to air live in 4K UHD from studio locations with no in-person audience in three host cities: Los Angeles, Tokyo, and London. The host cities will be digitally connected for an innovative celebration with live award presentations, musical performances, and spectacular world premiere game announcements.

Tom Holland has just been announced as one of the presenters at the Game Awards 2020. The actor is is best known for his take on Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is set to portay video game icon Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted film based on Naughty Dog's hit game.

Geoff Keighley announced the nominees for The Game Awards last Nov. 18, prior to the awards show. Notably, The Last of Us Part II received the most nominations with 10 nods.

The titles nominated for Game of the Year 2020 include Animal Crossing: New Horizons, DOOM Eternal, Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades and The Last of Us: Part II.

As a refresher, the past Game of the Year winners include Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014), The Witcher III (2015), Overwatch (2016), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017), God of War (2018) and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (2019).
