Jared Leto 'excited' for Tron: Legacy sequel, Garth Davis to direct
Disney has tapped Garth Davis to direct the sequel to 2010's Tron: Legacy, which places the film franchise back in the spotlight. Jared Leto, who had been attached to the project since 2017, further confirmed his involvement through a post on Instagram.
This news first broke in an article posted byThe Hollywood Reporter on Monday. Davis is known for directing the Oscar-nominated film, Lion.
The first film in the franchise, Tron, released in 1982 and broke new ground in film CGI, and animation. It starred Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner and was a moderate success in the box office. In following years, Tron became a cult classic and finally received its awaited sequel in 2010 with Tron Legacy.
