'XO, Kitty' renewed for season 2 at Netflix
Kitty Song Covey's love story continues!
Netflix has officially renewed XO, Kitty for a second season following its success in the streaming platform's ratings. The series serves as a spinoff of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before film franchise, which is another one of Netflix's hits.
XO, Kitty debuted in the platform with 72.1 million hours viewed, earning it the second top spot in Netflix's weekly Top 10 rankings. It continues to stay in the list for four weeks straight now at the eight spot with 14.4 million hours viewed this week.
The ten-episode spin-off follows the titular character Kitty as she embarks on her own romantic endeavor when she flies all the way to South Korea to pursue her studies. This is also so she could finally meet her boyfriend Dae who she has been in a three-year long distance relationship with.
Things take an unpleasant turn when she discovers that her partner is apparently cheating on her with another girl, Yuri. Believing herself to be someone who "knows everything there is to know about love," Kitty then strives to make the best out of the situation and tries to find her own adventure.
Jenny Han, writer of the original novels that the series is based on, serves as writer and executive producer in addition to being a showrunner.
Anna Cathcart will likely reprise her role as Kitty, while Korean actor Minyeong Choi will play Dae. The other cast includes Gia Kim, Sang Heon Lee, Anthony Keyvan, and Peter Thurnwald.
Netflix has yet to give a release date for the show's second season.
