Fortnite celebrates the LGBTQ+ community with ‘Rainbow Royale’
“Everyone is welcome on the Battle Bus.”
Just because Pride month is over it doesn’t mean the celebration and support towards the LGBTQIA+ community should end as well. It should be all year long because being yourself and comfortable in your own skin is a freedom everyone should experience.
The idea of celebrating inclusivity only during Pride month is a marketing ploy numerous companies have been doing for years. Once the month-long celebration passes by, Pride flag icons or merchandise are immediately stripped out as if supporting the community should only be recognized during June.
However, it seems like Fortnite begs to differ. It’s the bare minimum, but for a video game to still show its support towards the LGBTQIA+ community weeks after Pride month is done is quite appreciated.
Fortnite debuted its “Rainbow Royale” in celebration of the queer community with new free items on its in-game shop. The stuff available are Four Rainbow Royale Sprays: Vibrant Heart, Vibrant Llama, Vibrant Boogie, and Vibrant Star; Sunshine & Rainbows Wrap; and a Take a’bow Emote.
The celebration doesn’t end there for Fortnite will also feature music from LGBTQIA+ artists for their Love Izlv Radio. The tracks featured in the stations are:
Beatbox
- Lil Nas X - Montero
- Big Freedia - Platinum
Radio Underground
- King Princess - Pain
- Troye Sivan - STUD
- Ben Platt - Imagine
Power Play
- Daya - Bad Girl
- Hayley Kiyoko - Found My Friends
- Kim Petras - Malibu
The celebration starts today and will last until July 27.
