‘Hunter x Hunter’ creator teases manga’s return
It seems like Hunter x Hunter is finally making its long-anticipated comeback after the popular shonen manga series’ four-year hiatus.
This news comes directly from creator Yoshihiro Togashi himself, who recently joined Twitter and shared a close-up photo of a draft manga page with the number six written at the bottom right corner.
“4 more episodes for the time being,” a rough translation reads.

Meanwhile, to assure fans that the newly-created account truly belongs to the Hunter x Hunter creator, One Punch Man illustrator Murata Yusuke retweeted the post and assured fans that “It was with the person himself.”

The author, however, hasn’t mentioned the release date of the new chapters of Hunter x Hunter.
Following Togashi’s announcement, long-time fans expressed their excitement on the possible return of the manga series, including Hunter X Hunter voice actors Megumi Hand and Mariya Ise, who voiced Gon and Killua, respectively, in the anime series.

First released in 1998, Hunter x Hunter follows the story of Gon Freecss, a young boy who discovers that his father, Gin, is a legendary Hunter.
But before following his father’s footsteps, Gon must first pass the notoriously difficult and equally dangerous Hunter Qualification Exam, where he will eventually meet his new friends including Killua Zoldyck, Leorio, and Kurapika.
After its debut, the Japanese manga was later turned into a 62-episode anime series that ran from October 1999 to March 2001. Additionally, three original video animations comprised of 13 episodes were released in Japan from 2002 to 2004.
In 2011, a second anime series ran for a total of 148 episodes in Japan from October 2011 to September 2014, while two animated theatrical films were released in 2013.
Hunter × Hunter is considered as one of the best-selling mangas of Shueisha, with more than 79 million copies in circulation as of November 2021.
