Celebs who manifested their dreams into reality: Pia Wurtzbach, Macoy Dubs, Demi Lovato and more
It’s been said that when you want something to happen that’s farfetched—or even simple tasks for that matter—go write it down, like a bucket list of sorts. Whether you write it on a piece of paper or tweet it out to the world, you attract positivity to help make it happen.
As cliché as this practice may sound, a lot of people (including celebrities) swear by letting the universe know their desires. This also ties up with the thought that as humans, when we believe we can do something, we are setting ourselves up in a better place to actually fulfill what we want to achieve.
Some call it the law of attraction; others believe it is the work of a divine power or even just a mere coincidence.
Check out these celebrities who manifested their heart's desires into reality.
Pia Wurtzbach
Kalma lang guys. Ako bahala. Babawi tayo sa Miss Universe!!
— Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (@PiaWurtzbach) May 3, 2015
With her desire to bring up the morale of Filipinos after the loss of Manny Pacquiao to Floyd Mayweather in what was billed the “Fight of the Century” in 2015, Pia Wurtzbach, then the Philippines’ bet to the Miss Universe beauty pageant, tweeted “Kalma lang guys. Ako bahala. Babawi tayo sa Miss Universe!”
Though her tweet received mixed reactions (positively for giving hope to the dampened Pinoy Pride, and negatively for being overconfident), it manifested seven months later as Pia was crowned the 2015 Miss Universe, ending the Philippines’ 42-year drought of the title.
Inka Magnaye
I did this, too! If you ask all my friends, I told them one by one when the year started that I was going to be a viral voice over talent.

And less than a year later, here we are ♥️
Manifestations work ✨ https://t.co/jFpIGmrzqo
Voice-over talent, podcast host and radio DJ Inka Magnaye’s TikTok videos have become viral, especially when the strict community quarantines were still in effect in the metro. She has created a following on social media, where she also revealed that she comes from a family of voice-over talents.
Even before her videos went viral, for which she was featured in several publications and TV shows, Inka manifested this to her friends early this year. In her tweet reply to Jai Cabajar’s post on Twitter of Pinoy celebrities’ manifesting their dreams and making them a reality, Inka said, “I did this, too! If you ask all my friends, I told them one by one when the year started that I was going to be a viral voice over talent,” she shared. “Less than a year later, here we are. Manifestations work.”
Kelsey Merritt
Mark this tweet. Makakapag VS din ako balang araw ? #lawofattraction
— Kelsey Merritt (@kelsmerritt) July 7, 2017
After graduating from the Ateneo de Manila University and modeling for different local brands in 2017, Kelsey Merritt moved to the US and signed with the New York-based modeling agency Wilhelmina. The same year, she randomly tweeted, “Dream: Walk for haute couture shows,” referring to that year’s Chanel fall/winter haute couture runway show. She followed it with a tweet, “But more than anything… my dream: VS.” And in another tweet, she said, “Mark this tweet. Makakapag-VS din ako baling araw #lawofattraction.”
Kelsey’s dream was realized in 2018 as she walked Victoria’s Secret’s fashion show in New York. In her first ever runway show, she was also the first Filipino-American model to walk the coveted runway. (We’ll also be on the lookout for her first haute couture runway show, fingers crossed.)
Macoy Dubs
Content creator Mark Averilla a.k.a. Macoy Dubs has given us the character of the progressive Povedan tita we need, Aunt Julie. He first shot to fame with his Tagalog-dubbed videos that went viral on social media, hence his nickname “Macoy Dubs.”
In a Facebook post in 2018, he said, “Remember this post: Day will come when you’ll see me on TV as one of the sought-after comedians.” He claimed that “it will happen” and he was “sure of it.”
In October this year, it was announced that Macoy is part of the new show on TV5 Lunch Out Loud. He recently tweeted, “Wag kayong sumuko sa mga pangarap niyo, ah. Minsan matagal, minsan mabilis pero ang importante pinaghihirapan. (Don’t give up on your dreams. Sometimes, it takes time; sometimes, it’s fast. What’s important is you work hard for it.)”
Maine Mendoza
Arjo cutie ?
— Maine Mendoza (@mainedcm) July 28, 2013
Maine Mendoza was first known for her viral Dubsmash videos, which paved the way for her to join Eat Bulaga’s Dabarkads as Yaya Dub in 2015 in the noontime show’s highly successful Kalye Serye with Alden Richards as her on-screen love team.
But even before being one of the most sought-after brand endorsers and TV personalities in the country, Maine tweeted in 2013, “Arjo cutie” with a loudly crying emoji. At the time, Arjo Atayde was a rising star in showbiz.
Six years later, Maine and Arjo announced to the public that they were in a relationship. Maine revealed in an interview that she is a believer in the “law of attraction.”

— Ed Sheeran (@edsheeran) July 30, 2011

In July the same year, he tweeted, “Give me a few years, I’ve got some big plans.” One month after his tweet, he released his debut album “+” and topped the UK Albums Chart. Since then, he had sold-out stadiums and sold millions of records worldwide.
Billie Eillish
Every year, Vanity Fair interviews 18-year-old singer-songwriter Billie Eillish since she was 15 years old. In the feature titled “Billie Eilish: Same Interview,” Billie answers the same questions every year.
Billie listened to her answers first from the previous years before she gives her current answer. In the question “How many days off are you hoping for next year?” Billie answered, “I hope whatever amount of off days I have next year, I get. Like if I want a hundred off days next year, I hope I get that. I hope I am listened to.”
She could not believe that she previously said “a hundred days” because, indeed, she got it and she got more than that because the pandemic. “Well, b*tch, you got what you wished for. You happy?” she told herself. She also shared that though this was the most amount of time off she had in five years, she was also able to create things she couldn’t have done without this period.
Demi Lovato
One day, I'm gonna sing the national anthem at a super bowl. Onnnee dayyy....
— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) February 7, 2010
Disney star and singer Demi Lovato rose to fame in Camp Rock in 2008. Before she sold out concerts and performed around the world, Demi made the universe know about her desire to perform on one stage in a tweet in 2010. “One day, I’m gonna sing the national anthem at a super bowl.”
Fast forward 10 years later, 27-year-old Demi stood in the middle of Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and sang a soaring rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner for Super Bowl LIV.
