Warner Bros releases 10-minute BTS of Tenet
Warner Bros. has released an exclusive behind-the-scenes look on what it takes to film the action-packed sequences in Tenet, Christopher Nolan’s $200-million spy movie about a secret agent who must manipulate time to prevent World War III.
The 10-minute featurette from Warner Bros. showed how Tenet was shot in various locations across Europe, Asia and North America – from Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy, Norway, to the United Kingdom, and the United States.
It also tackled the cast’s performance in front and behind the camera as well as the difficulties faced by the production crew in overcoming the physical and mental challenges of filmmaking. Two of the most difficult scenes revealed so far include filming a high-speed chase in a closed-off freeway, and crashing a real Boeing 747 plane while inside a working airport.
“With Tenet, I’m hoping to really give the audience a reason for re-approaching action cinema so they get the same sense of excitement that I had when I was a kid watching my first spy movie,” Nolan said in the featurette.
Nolan is widely recognized for shooting his scenes, visual effects and stunts live on camera, without using CGI. Though costly and labor-intensive, his approach has resulted in award-winning blockbuster creations, namely; Inception, Batman Begins,The Dark Night and The Dark Knight Rises.
Tenet is a hair-raising high-stakes spy thriller starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.
Tenet premieres in North America with early access screenings scheduled from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. Entertainment website Variety mentions the Philippines among the countries included in the film’s global release plan but there’s no official word yet for a local release date.
