Women make Grammys history with landmark wins
Women won big during the 63rd annual Grammy awards today, March 15, as Beyoncé Knowles became the most decorated female artist in Grammy history and Taylor Swift became the first female performer to win Album of the Year thrice.
Beyoncé and Taylor Swift set new records on this historic Grammy Awards night for women.
Since the start of her career in 1998, Beyoncé has won a total of 28 awards from the Recording Academy, as she’s behind famed conductor Georg Solti by only three wins.
She secured her latest win with Best R&B Song for the single Black Parade, which was inspired by the #BlackLivesMatter movement in the wake of the controversial murder of George Floyd in 2020.
"As an artist, I believe it's my job and all of our jobs to reflect our times. So I wanted to uplift, encourage, celebrate all of the beautiful black queens and kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world," Beyoncé shared during her speech.

Taylor Swift’s quarantine-released surprise album folklore also nabbed the Album of the Year award, after she secured the same award through past EPs Fearless (2010) and 1989 (2016).
Meanwhile, the night’s major awards were also all won by women, including Fil-Am artist H.E.R. winning Song of the Year with I Can’t Breathe, Billie Eilish scoring her second consecutive Record of the Year win with Everything I Wanted, and Megan Thee Stallion nabbing the Best New Artist Award and Best Best Rap Performance for Savage.
