Harrison Ford suffers injury while filming ‘Indiana Jones 5’
Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford reportedly injured himself while filming a fight scene for the franchise's long-awaited new installment.
At 78, Ford returns to the big screen as Indiana Jones with the beloved franchise’s fifth and final film that is slated for a release in July 2022.
According to a Disney spokesperson, during a fight scene Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder.
“Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks,” they added.
Indiana Jones 5 began filming this month in the UK specifically at Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and in the Scottish Borders, with James Mangold as the director. Along with Ford, the upcoming film stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Thomas Kretschmann. Details about the film's plot and its final title has yet to be disclosed.
It has been 40 years since Ford graced the big screen with his iconic fedora hat and whip as the adventurous archeologist, Indiana Jones in 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark—and this isn’t the first time he got injured while filming one of the biggest movie franchises in the industry.
Almost seven years ago, while filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ford was crushed by a hydraulic door of the Millennium Falcon, the ship his character Han Solo pilots. In previous reports, the accident almost could have gotten him killed. Ford suffered a broken leg and had to be airlifted to the hospital.
