For the National Arts Month this February, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray will host Kultura 101, a web series that will feature everything Filipino, including the arts, crafts, food, music and textile.

The web series will go live on Feb. 20, on both the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and Catriona’s Facebook pages.

In the five-episode program, Catriona, who is in her second year as the NCAA Arts Ambassador, will share the aspects of Filipino culture that she is passionate about.

“These are the things that, through the platform of being online, is something that we can share, not just with Filipinos here in the Philippines but also those who are abroad who haven’t had the opportunity to come home. Those who feel away from their families,” Catriona said in a virtual press conference.

Catriona also looked back on her role as an arts ambassador in the time of the pandemic.

“(It) has allowed me to bring on a new mindset because at the beginning, it’s about celebrating our arts. But through the challenges that arose, and the things that came up against us as a people, arts allowed me and others to connect with each other during the time that we felt so alone and isolated,” she said.

In 2020, Catriona was also named an ambassador for the Department of Trade and Industry’s “One Town, One Product” program that aims to promote goods and products of the Philippines.

Catriona is known for promoting Filipino talent and artistry to the global stage—from proudly wearing a Pinoy-made number during the Miss Universe 2018 competition, to her social media posts where she is often seen wearing indigenous prints and creations made by Filipino designers.
